resistence

I want everyone who makes art or does any kind of creative endeavor to try to find The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. He wrote The Legend of Bagger Vance. It really is quite helpful in dealing with the inner demons that get in the way. Basically, he says we don’t have obstacles on the outside as much as we have obstacles from the inside. Namely Resistence with a capital R. Some call it writer’s block. But he says the trick to getting beyond that and stage fright and other things we use as excuses not to attempt to do our work is to turn professional. This means fear, laziness, and worry have to be pushed aside. The inner critic becomes sly and does everything to get in the way. We are not entitled to the fruits of our labor as much as coming back to our labor. Again and again and again. It makes a lot of things in this roller coaster make sense. Check it out!!
